Amy Robinson

About Amy Robinson

Dr. Robinson is currently an English Language Arts Content Area Specialist for the Illinois State Board of Education, involved with developing and providing workshops on the Common Core State Standards throughout Illinois and has 23 years of teaching experience. She is certified in seven areas, ranging from pre–K through the university level, and has taught in all seven of those areas at those levels in rural, urban, and suburban settings. She completed her doctorate at National-Louis University in Evanston, Ill., and has taught at four Chicago-area universities. For three years, she was a member of National-Louis University's Goals 2000 Team, which provided staff development programs for three Chicago high schools under the direction of Donna Ogle. Robinson worked as a reading specialist at Steinmetz High School in Chicago, designing and implementing a reading program that spanned the curriculum. She served as an assistant principal at the Chicago International School. Robinson has worked with diverse populations of teachers as well as students in the area of reading and has been a literacy coach. She has been an ASCD Faculty Member and consultant for the past twelve years, and her work with ASCD has taken her to various districts around the country, giving her a solid foundation for staff development. Robinson was involved with the development and writing of the manuals for one of ASCD’s video series about reading across the curriculum and she appeared in the videos. She has presented several times at ASCD's Annual Conference, at the International Reading Association's Annual Conference and at the Illinois Reading Council’s Annual Conference.
